High 5 for Friday

We had a great week! Love this time of year and having a little one only makes it that more special.

1. We stopped at Starbucks for some hot chocolates and went to one of the coolest streets in the area and saw Christmas lights. Rocco loved it!

2. I went and saw Best Man Holiday w/ my Mom. OMG! We loved it. We laughed, cried, laughed cried. Such a great movie. Totally worth the almost 15 year wait (it's as equal to The Best Man. Never seen it? Rent it!)

3.  Finally got around to sending out our Christmas cards. Totally lagged on it this year.

4. Hubby and I watched Home Alone 2 during the week. Still love it after all these years. Totally remember going to see it in the theater w/ my Papi and little brother as a kid.

5. Rocco goes to the Daycare at my work and this week they had a little Christmas program for us workers and the Daycare kiddos. There was singing and a visit from Santa. Mr. Rocco sat on my lap the whole time and wanted nothing to so w/ the man in red. He is soo his Father's son. Shy and totally put off by strangers. Boo! Hoping it gets better next year.

Have a great weekend, everyone!!

High Five for Friday

My first High Five for Friday link up! Here's my top 5 list from the past week...

1. Cuddles near the fire w/ my boy are the best.

2. Sunday morning waffles and hot chocolate (chocolate milk for Rocco) was a huge hit  and may become a weekly event

3. Found the Hubs the most perfect Christmas gift ever and he is going to loose his shit come Christmas morning when he opens it. So excited to see his face!

4. We were able to check off some items off our Christmas Bucket List. Mickey's Christmas Carol has been a favorite of the Hubs since he was a little boy and seeing Rocco enjoy it just as much was the sweetest!

5. Someone had his first Rice Krispie Treat last night and he wasn't much of a fun. He had maybe two bites and was over it. That's ok, just means for for Mama Dada ;)

Hope you're all enjoying your Holidaya and have a great weekend!

Season for Giving

I've gone back and fourth on what to get Rocco's "Teachers" at day care. These are the women I trust to watch over and teach my child a couple days a week and I wanted to show my appreciation for all that they do. He has 5 Teachers and then there are 2 Directors of the center. That makes 7 gifts!! What's a Mama on a budget to do?
I hit up Wal-Mart and found some cute tumblers that can hold both cold and hot drinks and filled them w/ candy.

I wanted to show his teachers that the gift was not only a, "thank you" from my husband and myself, but also from Rocco. So I had him color the gift bags and add some cute Christmas stickers too. This was something that took a few days to get done since he would only sit still long enough to decorate two bags at a time.

I spent a total of $45 on 7 gifts. Not bad, huh? I purchased the tumblers all from Wal-Mart as well as the candy, gift bags and stickers.
Hope this helps anyone that is scrambling get something for their co-workers, kid's teacher or neighbor :)
Merry Christmas!!!!

Christmas Pajama Party Link Up!

Linking up today with The Good Life Blog for the Christmas Pajama Party!!

For weeks I have been stressing over what photo to use for our family Christmas card. It's been really difficult getting Mr. Rocco to cooperate for a family photo for a few months now (aren't toddlers great? LOL) So last week we had an in home photo shoot. Nothing Fancy, just a lit fire, Christmas tree and Rocco dressed in the worlds cutest jammies I ever did see. I figured it'd be easier if the Hubs am I just worked as a team and focused on getting Rocco to smile and actually LOOK at the camera. Also, our family and friends are only interested in pictures of him anyway, right?! Ha!
So here are some of the shots we got.

yes, those are graham crackers. The only way to get him to sit still is when he's eating
The money shot

and NOW our flash decides to work

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Three Months 'till 30!

So today marks exactly three months until I turn the big 3-0! I'm not dreading it at all, it's just a number. I do however, want to look as fab as possible. So time to kick things into high gear!
The past two months have been a constant back and fourth. I'd do great with my eating during the week and then as soon as the weekend hit everything would get thrown out the window. I'd indulge in too many sweet and drink one too many cocktails. Well, no more!
Last week I managed to keep my shit together for seven consecutive days and it paid off. I dropped four pounds. Hollaa!!! I know it has a lot, if not everything to do w/ not drinking soda and having only one mimosas during Father's day brunch. What ever the reason for the few pounds loss this was the boost I needed to regain control. I know it'll be tough w/ all the BBQ's and family gatherings, but I'm determined. This past weekend I managed to do well at our Father's day BBQ. I filled my plate with mostly salad and grilled veggies and very little red meat. I even had a tiny sliver of the best Strawberry shortcake. The key really is moderation!
I'm going to try and blog more regularly to help keep myself accountable as well as post on Instagram (sonia917). Last Friday I posted my weekend goal to "keep it together" on Instagram and it totally worked.

Our Future Golfer (Trendy Tot Tuesday Link Up)

We had a fun, family day on Saturday. We drove an hour and a half to Jeff's Aunt's house and got in some pool time and a little golf with family.
It took Rocco a while to warm up to everyone. And by a while I mean two hours. He only wanted to be with his Mama which was kinda frustrating and embarrassing at the time. No one wants their kid to be the cry baby that screams the second anyone else tries to hold them or talk to them. Now that I  look back on the situation I realize that he was just scared of new people, a new place and a very large tub (swimming pool). Poor guy :(
Eventually he did warm up to everyone and was quite the little ham. He also found his way on to the putting green and had a blast trying to hit the ball into the hole.

A Work in Progress 2

Every four weeks or so I take progress photos and measurements. I find that it's helpful to have something to look back on and see how far I've come. I usually do it the first Friday of every month and I am going to try and post my photos on here for two reasons; one, to help me stay accountable and two, to maybe help others get off their asses and start moving. You can see my last progress post here.
April '13 & May '13 down 4 more pounds
This is the most weight I have dropped in one month in a long time. I attribute it to Asylum and making better food choices. I didn't stick to my goal of taking my lunch to work everyday, but I did eat as clean as possible.
I also started drinking Shakeology again for breakfast. HUGE help! It's fast, easy and I love the taste. I've been drinking the chocolate flavor mixed with unsweetened almond milk and I LOVE IT!
Leave me a comment or email me if you'd like me to help you get moving and reach your goals!

May Goals

Last month I set a handful of goals and I did pretty well at keeping them. You can check them out here.

I kinda failed at the meal prep so I went out to lunch A LOT during the week. I tried to be as healthy and clean as I could, so I stuck to salads with lemon juice rather than dressing. I also took a few sips of soda from my hubby when he wasn't looking. And every time I did it I remember thinking, "this Coke is gross... WAY too sweet!"
I also shopped, but in my defense Target was having too good a sale on their Champion Sports bras to pass up. And my old ones were starting too look a little raggedy and were fitting a little big on me.
I totally rocked the rest of the goals on my list! And I think it had a lot to do with my four pound weight loss for the month (progress photos later on this week)

So since setting goals worked so well last month I'm setting some more for May....

1. No shopping... After today. (Today I bought some much need workout shorts)
2. Meal prep during the work week
3. Eat out once a week
4. No soda
5. Only 1-2 cocktails a week (weekends only)
6. Run at least 10 miles a week
7. Work on being more organized and neat
8. One cheat meal a week

What are some of your goals? I'd love to hear from you :)

30 Day Pinterest Challange (week 4)

Week four of the Pinterest Challenge and I was doing pretty well until this weekend. I'm off on Friday's and usually make some kind of effort to put myself together, but this past Friday I didn't have any major plans. No date night with the Hubby or Girl's night with my Besties. We did however have a play date with one of my girlfriends and her little girl so I opted for Yoga pants, a v-neck and my favorite Giant's ball cap. Otherwise I probably would have been in my jammies all day. TRUTH!
The rest of the weekend was pretty much the same and I LOVED IT!

Hey batta batta batta batta (Trendy Tot Tuesday Link up)

Baseball is a pretty big deal in our house. It's one of the first things that connected my Husband and I when we first started talking (we met online over 10 years ago... more on that on another post).
We both can't wait for the day that Rocco is old enough to play T-Ball. Until then we'll have to settle on dressing him like a ball player. Love it!

"Plaaaay baaaaall"

This game was just too intense for Rocco

30 Day Pinterest Style Challenge week 3

This Challenge is starting to get kinda hard. What I started doing is picking out an item from my closet that I want to wear and go on Pinterest and enter said item in the search field.
So for example I entered, "white blouse" and up came hundreds of looks that included a white blouse. Easy, huh?!

Toddler Tuesday (Trendy Tot Tuesday Link Up)

The weather has been wonderful in Northern California. We have had many trips to the park and bike rides around the block.
I recently found these super cute v-necks for my little guy on HauteLook. I was able to snag three different colors for him. He reminds me so much of my Hubby here, minus the Tom's. The Hubby's got attitude about these Tom's or any Tom's for that matter, but whatevs!
I hope you're all enjoying your Spring as much as we are!!
